Song notes
“Dear John” is a deeply personal country gospel song about a man confronting illness, abandonment, and the loss of the life he thought he had. Broken and searching for answers, John falls to his knees and asks God, “Why me?” God’s answer doesn’t explain away his suffering—instead, He reminds John that Christ Himself knew betrayal, loneliness, fear, and pain. He invites John to stay close to Him and find new purpose by serving and loving others who are hurting. “Dear John” is ultimately a song about discovering that even when life changes forever, faith can turn despair into purpose, and no one has to face their darkest hour alone.
